It's hard to believe it's been (almost) ONE year since tragedy struck Orlando. Remembering the 49 innocent lives lost that night is a daily occurrence for our close community and on the first anniversary we will continue to honor these victims with love and our heads held high. Our local government is prepping several events for what is going to be known as "Orlando United Day" for June 12th.


Details are still being worked out but here is bits of event information for June 12th, which will be known as “A Day of Love and Kindness".

UCF Remembers: 6.12.16 @ University of Central Florida on 6.8.17 from 11am-8:30pm

UCF will be hosting various Pulse events and tributes throughout the day including an artistic tribute, blood drive, an opening reception for “Resilience: Remembering Pulse” (on display through June 30), and UCF Remembers, a special event commemorating the lives of the 49 victims while also celebrating equality and diversity.


CommUNITY Rainbow Run @ Wadeview Park on 6.10.17 from 8-11am

Celebrate the diversity of our community and honor the lives of the 49 we lost during a community 4.9k run. The course begins at Wadeview Park, passes through many of Downtown Orlando’s best streets, and passes by Pulse Nightclub before returning to Wadeview Park. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Zebra Coalition. Registration is $35/person.


A Vigil in Remembrance of Pulse @ Cathedral Church of Saint Luke on 6.11.17 at 5pm

This special service will include scripture and prayer, a candlelight vigil, and performances by The Chancel Choir from First United Methodist Church, the Cathedral Choir, Orlando Gay Chorus, and the Orlando Fire Department Bagpipe Band.


Items Preserved @ Orange County History Center on 6.12.17 at 10am-7pm

Items preserved by The One Orlando Collection Initiative, an effort to catalog items left by mourners outside of Pulse after the tragedy, will be on display. Admission to the history center will be free all day.


Sea-to-Sea Flag @ Orange County Administration Center on 6.12.17 @ 10:30am

 Officials will display a section of the Sea-to-Sea flag, a symbol of the LGBTQ-rights movement.


Community Gathering @ Pulse nightclub on 6.12.17 at 11am-1pm

The club plans to host a midday ceremony featuring community speakers, prayers, a reading of the victims’ names and music by Violectric, a local electric string quintet.


Inspiration Orlando Mural @ Pulse Nightclub and Lake Eola Park on 6.12.17

The Inspiration Orlando Mural will be on display at Pulse Nightclub until 2pm. The mural will then be moved to Lake Eola for Orlando United Day events. Families of the victims, survivors, and first responders will be adding their handprints to the mural. The virtual reality app that works in conjunction with the mural will be available for free on June 12.


Love Rocks @ Winter Garden Branch Library on 6.12.17 at 3:30pm

Paint a river rock with a message or symbol of love and kindness to honor Orlando United Day.


Orlando Love: Remembering Our Angels @ Lake Eola Park Amphitheater on 6.12.17 at 7pm

Join Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs, Orlando Commissioner Patty Sheehan, and others for a remembrance ceremony at Lake Eola. The event will feature performances from musicians Olga Tañón and Sisaundra Lewis and a reading of the victims’ names.

A gathering with prayer, live music, dance and reflection.


Painting with a Twist Pulse Memorial/Fundraiser for onePULSE Foundation @ Painting with a Twist in Winter Park, FL on 6.12.17 from 7-9pm

Sip, paint a commemorative piece, and relax at Painting with a Twist in Winter Park. The evening’s event will also serve as a memorial and fundraiser for the onePULSE Foundation. The cost is $45/person.


One City – One Pulse: An Artistic Tribute @ City Arts Factory on 6.14.17 - 7.15.17

View the work of local artists created to inspire hope and healing. The gallery will be on display at City Arts Factory and is open to the public during normal gallery hours.
